Background
Eric Martinez is an accomplished research assistant with a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and post-baccalaureate training from the UCSF School of Medicine. His research experience includes earlier work, where he focused on cell culture, specifically induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for Alzheimer's disease studies. His expertise in molecular assays and experimental procedures led to co-authoring papers in leading journals like Neuron and Nature Communications. Complementing his technical skills, Eric has contributed to quality improvement initiatives at UCSF Medical Center, enhancing patient-professional interactions. His time in the clinic drove him to pursue clinical research.
Research Interests
Since 2019, Eric has been a pivotal figure in clinical research with the department. He has led clinical trials, including a significant OMT COVID-19 vaccine trial, and collaborated with various PIs across medical disciplines. He has been integral to the design, execution, and coordination of these studies. His ability to secure research funding is demonstrated by his success in writing grants, with six out of nine proposals receiving funding. Eric has served as lead author and co-authored numerous publications and mentored medical students and faculty alike, helping them publish in peer-reviewed journal articles, give talks at osteopathic conferences, and create posters for presentations at various scientific conferences.
