Dr. Josh Matacotta is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology and serves as Acting Vice Dean in the College of Health Sciences at Western University of Health Sciences. In this role, he provides strategic leadership across academic affairs, student affairs, research and evaluation, and college operations, and serves as Research Director for the Interprofessional Behavioral Health Institute.

Previously, Dr. Matacotta served as a Scientific Review Officer at the National Institutes of Health’s Center for Scientific Review, where he evaluated research on psychosocial processes, behavioral health, and chronic disease across the lifespan. He has a long history of service as a scientific reviewer for various NIH CSR scientific review panels. Trained as a clinical psychologist with an emphasis in behavioral medicine and health psychology, his research focuses on mental health, integrated behavioral health, and psychosocial determinants of health with an emphasis on high-risk populations (e.g., people with HIV, comorbid conditions, vulnerable groups). He teaches as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Pasadena City College.
