Introduction
Introduction to the Li Lab
Welcome to the Li Lab, where we are at the forefront of research into gene expression regulation. Our work spans a broad range of topics, with a primary focus on mRNA processing, particularly through polyadenylation, which plays a crucial role in the co- or post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in eukaryotic cells. We investigate how alternative polyadenylation of the same genes can lead to significantly different outcomes in mature mRNA compared to the “normal” version.
Additionally, our research harnesses transcriptomics and genomics technologies to explore gene expression in various contexts, including growth, development, and responses to environmental stimuli. We analyze gene expression regulation through promoter activities, epigenetic mechanisms, and evolutionary comparisons.
Our research subjects include model plants such as Arabidopsis and rice, as well as cultured human cells to study responses to toxic compounds and disease models like Alzheimer’s disease, from single cells to evolution levels.
