Josh Matacotta, PsyD, MA

Dr. Josh Matacotta is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Medicine. He serves as the Acting Vice Dean in the College of Health Sciences at Western University of Health Sciences. He provides strategic leadership across academic affairs, student affairs, research and evaluation, and college operations. He is also the Research Director in the Interprofessional Behavioral Health Institute at Western University of Health Sciences.

Previously, Dr. Matacotta served as a Scientific Review Officer at the National Institutes of Health (Center for Scientific Review), where he evaluated research on psychosocial processes, behavioral health, and chronic disease across the lifespan. Trained as a clinical psychologist with an emphasis in behavioral medicine and health psychology, his research focuses on behavioral health, sexual and gender minority health, HIV and mental health, and behavioral health technology. He also serves as Board Director at the Integrated Behavioral Health Research Institute (IBHRI) and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Pasadena City College.
